Department of Health, State Regional Office, Orlando, FL Engineer
III Review swimming pool construction plans for compliance with Florida Administrative Code 64E-9 for 14 counties. Suggest
and mandate engineering changes to protect public health. Conduct final construction inspections throughout Central and South
Florida prior to pool use. Issue construction and operating permits. Assist county health departments with problem pools.
Train local field personnel on routine pool inspection protocol and pool operation. Provide guidance and consultation to design
engineers, operators, the swimming pool industry and the public at large. Conduct reviews of county health department implementation
of swimming pool and limited use water systems program objectives. Document proposed code changes. Develop educational materials
to promote a greater understanding of proper pool operation for increased patron safety.
Department of Environmental Protection, Central District, Orlando,
FL
Engineer II Reviewed drinking water distribution system and water treatment
plant permit applications and related utility engineering drawings for compliance with FDEP regulations for 7 counties. Interfaced
with professional engineers, municipalities and water utilities on daily basis. Scrutinized engineering drawings of proposed
water distribution system extensions, modifications and plant expansions. Mandated engineering changes to protect the integrity
of the entire drinking water system. Verified construction adequacy and approved deviations to permitted plans post construction
prior to clearing systems for use. Enforced Florida code and AWWA standards daily.
Department of Health, Pinellas County, Clearwater, Florida Environmental
Specialist I Environmental code enforcement officer for public and commercial swimming pool and beach environs. Conducted
field inspections on routine and complaint basis, educated pool operators and enforced state regulations via direct interaction,
pool closures, reinspections and unsatisfactory rankings. Also collaborate with local governments, community groups, governor's
advisory boards, etc. as public health official concerned with local brownfields areas, proposed drinking water sanitation
with chloramines, development of the Tampa Bay area and other multi-player multi-take concerns.
